Disabling Hotel Room Thermostats

This video is making it’s rounds on Facebook and I thought it was worth the share on here as well. Many of us get annoyed at those hotel room thermostats that stop at 65 degrees, or have sensors on them that auto-adjust the temp if there is no moment on the room. Well this amazing video hows you how to “bypass” the motion sensors on your thermostats to make sure your air (or heat) stays on when you want it too.

Hope this works for the Euro and the ones in Australia. Last time I was in Sydney, I froze my ass off!

Guy that made the video here…

It may be the same model, it may not. Just google the model of thermostat and you’ll probably find a manual or something online. That’s what I did for this SensorStatDDC before making the video.

A good way to keep the heat on longer is to just put a damp tissue or paper towel over the until. It tricks the thermostat into thinking it is colder in the room than it really is, so in theory, the heat will stay on continuously. It won’t think its up to the right temperature until the tissue or paper towel is dried out, which takes quite a number of hours. As for air conditioning, I’m not quite sure how to trick it to make it colder (although I feel that heat is more beneficial to have since I dislike the cold).
