Ukrainian man cleared of molest charges against flight attendant
A Ukrainian national, who was facing three charges after molesting a flight attendant, received a discharge amounting to an acquittal on Monday.
Sales manager Sierkov Sergii, 35, paid the victim $10,000 and gave an open court apology to have the matter compounded after he touched the woman’s buttocks and breasts on a flight in November last year.
Speaking to the court through an interpreter, Sergii said in Ukrainian that he regretted his actions and would like to apologise for them. He also promised that he would not repeat the offence.
The Moscow-Singapore flight was within Thai airspace when the incident took place at about 4am. If found guilty, Sergii could have been jailed for up two years, fined, caned or receive any combination of these punishments.
