Traveling for your Birthday: Palm Springs?

This coming Monday I’m turning 27. I know, some of you are going to turn around and be like “27?! you’re a baby!” yea, yea, yeah – I’ve heard it all. But that’s not my reason for this post. I’m wondering, do you usually travel for your birthday?

Flight Attendants & Pilots working aside, do you use your birthday as an excuse to travel? Originally, I was planning to stay home this weekend with my friend Brad, as he’ll be staying in LA with me for the rest of month for work purposes and we figured we’d take a “booze cruise” around Newport Beach for $50 through a deal we found on zozi. But, I was reading through my email this morning and came across one from someone who works in tourism for Palm Springs, CA. She had given me a run down of things to do while visiting Palm Springs, and it made me think – - Palm Springs is less than two hours away from Los Angeles, and it’s my birthday weekend, why not?

Truth be told I never need an excuse or reason to travel, but this week was supposed to be set for relaxation and visits with friends and family, I had no intentions of going anywhere.  But, I found myself using my birthday as an excuse to say “lets do it!”

In the past I’ve never traveled anywhere on my birthday. I never took off with a friend someone to relax where we didn’t have to think about anything. I know a lot of people who wait all year for their birthday to come around because they have been planning a trip they’re anxiously waiting to take, maybe I don’t do that because of how much I travel on a normal basis? Not to mention the thought of “getting away” and not getting on an airplane (right now) sounds amazing!

Since July 23rd, I’ve flown 111 hours and 36 minutes for work. In that span of time I’ve been on duty for a total of 19 days and been away from base 241 hours and 19 minutes. Hows that for hard work?

Has anyone been to Palm Springs? What is your favorite place to eat at? visit? see? Give me in the in’s and the out’s!
