Flightster Friday: Kissing the Plane

Have you ever boarded an airplane behind someone to had to pat the plane two times before walking onto the aircraft? What about someone who puts just their right hand on the fuselage for five sections while looking to the sky? How about someone who blatently kisses the plane before stepping inside?

No? Well, it happens. And, it happens every day. In fact, it happened yesterday! While boarding a flight to Orlando, I noticed a passenger tap the airplane two times before coming on board. Once he walked through the door I asked him “why just two times?” His response “I don’t even know why I do it twice, it’s just something I did once, and that flight was uneventful, now I’m worried if I don’t do it.. something will happen.”

Do you do anything superstitious before boarding? Let me know!

In the mean time, visit Flightster.com to read my post on pre-flight superstitions and read about some of the other things passengers do before boarding by clicking here.

I always walk onto a plane with my right foot first–my dad taught me. Something about starting off on the right foot. ;)

Funny.. my family has a “left foot first” rule.

If anyone (or anything) needs kissing our our thanks *Before* the flight, it is that mechanic who just signed-off on a critical equipment item. I sure hope that s/he did it correctly! As for the plane and the FAs, I don’t do any kissing or even waste your time (or spread germs) with a hand shake. A moment of eye contact, with a smile and a “Good [time-of-day] is enough. Fuss not! I’ll find my seaet, get into it with my belt on and devices off, long before you can get the door closed.
